Physics 2211 / 2212 Lab Policies

Spring 2008
Students in the Matter and Interactions versions of these courses
should refer to their own course pages for lab information.

Instructor
Lab sections will be taught by TA’s under the supervision of Dr. Eric Murray. All requests for make-up labs must be addressed to him. All questions and other requests should be addressed initially to the appropriate TA.
Manuals
All experimental lab materials are maintained online by the School of Physics. Prior to attending the first lab, students should view the web pages for the appropriate course at www.physlab.gatech.edu. Students should read each entry on the 2211 or 2212 Administrative page. Additionally, before each lab meeting, including the first lab meeting, students should read the material on the Prelab page for the experiment they will be performing.
Labs and Recitations Begin
in the week of January 14!
Section
Students should be sure to know what section they are in, and where and when it meets. The location should be re-checked on the 2211 or 2212 Lab Hours, Rooms, and TA's page just before their first lab meeting, in case changes have been made. No students will be permitted to attend any section other than their own, unless a make-up has been approved.
Attendance
The Attendance and Make-up Policy must be read and understood, as it will be enforced.
Lab Exemption
No student is automatically exempt from lab. However, students who have already passed the course with a grade of "D" or better (and are repeating the course) may request a request a lab exemption before the close of business on Wednesday, January 9. Note that lab exemption does not provide recitation exemption. There is no exemption from recitation!
Food and Drink
No eating or drinking is permitted in the lab rooms at any time. A student found eating or drinking in lab will be removed, and their absence classified as unexcused. There will be no warnings (this is your warning).
